EXCERPT - BOOK TWO

Aaagh! I See Spirits (And You Can Too) is a collection of 20 of Natasha Rosewood's most-interesting-even-for-a psychic true stories of her personal and professional life. Told in the same style as the first book, Aaagh! I Think I Am Psychic (And You Can Be Too) about her reluctant awakening, these spirit tales bounce between funny and heart-wrenching. In keeping with her writing style, each tale is followed by a “Dear Natasha,” question from one of her clients, each metaphysical teaching pertaining to the previous chapter. As we are all spirit, some with physical bodies, some without, we can learn to see and communicate with each other. Laugh while you learn to commune with the spirit within and the spirit without.

THE DEAD PEOPLE PARTY

“It'll be fun,” my friend, Sarah said. “We'll make it a Halloween party. Can you manage eight people?”

Yes, live ones , I thought, having an eerie, déjà vu moment. We were talking about a psychic party where I would go to her home and offer thirty-minute psychic readings to her friends.

On a Wednesday evening two weeks later Sarah showed me into her large pink bedroom. . . .

. . ."The lifeline represents our vitality, our life force, our way of being in the world," I was explaining when, on the Mount of Venus, the name "Doug" appeared.

N: Do you know someone who has passed on with the name Doug?

V: (glances to her left, mentally scanning her list of acquaintances.) No.

N: (shrugging telepathically I pushed "Doug" to the side so I could continue with the reading). Whatever you are doing now for a career, it feels as if there will be a change within the next two years. Are you sure you don't know a Doug? He's come back and he's quite persistent.

V: (frowning) I can't think of anyone by that name.

N: Okay, well, we'll get back to him later .

Then as I continued to study the Mount of the Moon in the lower palm, suddenly I heard in my mind “ Doug!” being yelled at me. I jumped back from my client. Valerie also pulled back from me suddenly, her eyes wide and frightened with an is-she-quite-mad? stare.

Dear Natasha,

My husband died suddenly four years ago of a heart attack. Psychics tell me he is around me but how can I see him myself?

Dear Not-Seeing,

. . . .Often when we want to see something very badly, our fear of not seeing gets in the way. The job of the ego mind—or pea-brain as I like to call it—is to keep our fears alive and well, to keep us in the illusion of being separate and small. The ego will talk us out of the bigger truth . . .

PSYCHIC BREAK-IN

. . . . .Hauling my little wheeled black suitcase containing my psychic kit behind me, I negotiated the three concrete steps down to the metal-framed and glass-plated front door. As I approached the entrance, and fumbling for the right key, nothing seemed particularly amiss, even when I saw the deadbolt protruding from the door, leaving it slightly ajar.

Somebody is already here and has probably gone in to switch on the lights as they are expecting a client , I thought.

But when I got closer, and I saw a slim, twisted piece of metal lying ominously on the ground, I proceeded with caution. The piece, I realized, was part of the door lock. Gingerly opening the door, it occurred to me too late that I should be using gloved hands. And maybe the burglars were still here . . . .

“Hello,” I called out inanely as if robbers would rush out to greet me with an “Oh hi, Natasha. Coffee's on.”

But there was just silence…. I listened. More silence. . . .

Dear Natasha , I notice how many psychics make bad choices in their lives. Shouldn't they know better?

Dear Disillusioned,

This may come as a shock…and I don't mean to upset you . . . but . . . wait for it . . .yes, we psychics are human ! Just like you, we are here on this planet to learn and evolve. We might be more attuned to a higher wisdom in some areas and we might be able to process problems more rapidly but like you, we still have our challenges and our feelings. We buy non-winning lottery tickets, we have (very) bad days, we get confused and sorry . . . but we also make bad choices . . .

FAMOUS AND INFAMOUS GHOSTS

“Oh, you must stay at the Waverly Inn, dah-ling,” my friend Angela responded in her very British accent when I asked her which hotel I should choose for my one-night stay book promotion in Halifax. Apart from having good taste, she was also an expert on Nova Scotia . As she punched in the website on her laptop, she added, “It's just luh-verly. Look.”

Even as the pictures of the Waverley Inn popped up on her computer screen and I was able to voyeuristically preview the hotel over Angela's shoulder, I could see the place was oh-so-haunted. . . .

. . . .“Do you get anything else about the house?” Donna persisted as I scraped crusty cheesy remnants from the bowl.

“I am sure there are tons of ghosts here.” Jet lag was beginning to take its toll and I wasn't getting specifics. “In fact, this whole street is haunted. I'm staying at the Waverly Inn up the road and the atmosphere is thick with spirit energy.”

“Yes,” she replied as she signed off on a requisition for the bartender, “the town of Halifax is well-known for its ghosts.

But what about here?”

“Let me see,” I tuned in again. “Oh . . .”

“What?” Donna leaned forward.

“This room.” I waved my arm towards the restaurant behind me. The tables were configured in almost the same pattern but I was seeing a different era. “There are a lot of men at the tables playing cards and drinking . . . dressed in tuxes . . . but the women are all in black and red bustiers with their hair piled on top . . . Oh . . . It's a brothel!”

The bartender was now leaning on the bar, listening, fascinated by our conversation. Donna looked at him conspiratorially and smiled. . . .

. . . “I do believe that all houses have spirits and it is the spirits of those houses that choose the owners. They just let us think that we have the power to choose. But I think we are picked and then we get sucked in.”

“Do you think so?”

“And maybe . . . and I know this sounds a little far-fetched . . .,” I smiled only half-joking, “you are the reincarnation of that young woman and you have come back to make peace with yourself.”

Donna just stared at me, not refuting the idea but not accepting it either. “I'll have to think about that theory,” she replied. “But I do know one thing, Natasha.”

“What's that?”

“I need to buy your book.”

Dear Natasha,

Is it possible to change the past?

Dear Quantum-Thinker,

. . . .our thinking can change our perception of the outcome, not only in the past but also in the present, which can then be prognosticated into our future. So why not choose an enlightened, magical script that gives us new experiences rather than continuing to wade in the thick mud of old stale destructive thinking. Think joy! What a concept!
